This research is an attempt to improve the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education through the method of giving study assignments and recitations to fourth grade students of SD No. 236/IX AUR DURI II. This study aims to ask whether there is an increase in learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects that prioritize the ability development and information processing in class VI students of SD No. 236/IX AUR DURI II Study Year 2017/2018 by using the provision of study assignments and recitation. The application of the method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted in 3 cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 stages, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were all fourth grade students of SD No. 236/IX AUR DURI II, as many as 22 students. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, written test questions. Based on the analysis, test results and observations that have been carried out by researchers, it is concluded that problem-based learning has a positive impact on improving student learning achievement which is marked by an increase in student learning mastery in each cycle, namely cycle I (68.18%), cycle II ( 77.27%), cycle III (86.36%). The application of the method of giving learning assignments and recitation has a positive influence, which can increase student learning motivation as indicated by the results of interviews with some students, the average student answer states that students are interested and interested in the method of giving learning assignments and recitation so that they become motivated to learn.
